Book Design & Production Preparation
A considered cover. Clear typography. Pages shaped around the reading experience.
Cover design
Cover direction begins with the manuscript’s subject, genre and readers. The brief establishes the title, subtitle, author name and verified cover copy. Concepts and approval stages are defined in the engagement; design does not guarantee sales.
Interior typography & layout
Interior preparation considers page size, typography, chapter openings, headings and the balance of text and white space. Front matter, back matter, tables and illustrations are arranged for the agreed language and format.
Illustrations, images & rights
Requirements, source material, credits and rights are clarified before production. Authors supply or approve material they have permission to use. Commissioned artwork and additional assets require a specifically agreed scope.
Proofs & author approval
Authors review both text and presentation. Corrections are checked against the approved manuscript and design. Substantial text changes after layout may require a revised scope; final approval is documented before production preparation.
Print-ready & digital files
Preparation follows the printer or platform requirements confirmed for the project. E-book preparation, where included, considers chapter navigation and digital formatting. Formats, source-file delivery and usage rights are specified in writing.
Production, ISBN & release
Printing specifications, quantities, ISBN arrangements, distribution and release plans depend on the selected engagement. They are confirmed in the proposal and agreement, not implied by a design service. Publication dates and retail availability are not guaranteed.
Discuss your manuscript
Share your work and publishing aims for consideration. Scope, approvals and commercial terms are agreed for your project; submission does not guarantee publication.
